A waterjet cutting machine uses a high-pressure stream of water — typically mixed with abrasive garnet — to cut through virtually any material without generating heat. Because there is no heat-affected zone (HAZ), the cut edge retains the material's original properties: no hardening, no warping, no toxic fumes.
Waterjet machines cut: steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, hardened tool steel, armor plate, marble, granite, glass, ceramic, carbon fiber, fiberglass, Kevlar, rubber, foam, acoustic insulation, carpet, and food products. Maximum cut thickness depends on machine power and material; steel up to 200 mm+ is achievable on standard abrasive waterjet systems.
Pure waterjet uses only pressurized water with no abrasive. It cuts soft materials: foam, rubber, food, thin plastics. Pressure is typically 200–400 MPa.
Abrasive waterjet adds garnet abrasive to the water stream, dramatically increasing cutting power. It cuts metals, stone, composites, and ceramics. This is the technology used in Wonlean's CNC and portable machine ranges, operating at 300–600 MPa.

Waterjet is the only cutting technology that can safely cut flammable and explosive materials.
CNC waterjet is for workshop-based production cutting: metal fabrication, stone processing, composite manufacturing, precision parts. It is fixed in place, computer-controlled, and produces high-volume consistent cuts.
Portable waterjet is for field cutting: cutting on-site at a pipeline, oil tank, mining shaft, or demolition site. It is compact, movable, and in the explosion-proof pre-mixed version, the only safe cutting tool for environments with flammable gases.

Wonlean CNC waterjet machines achieve mechanical transmission accuracy of ±0.02 mm, enabled by a nano-ground gear-and-rack drive system running at up to 40 m/min. The cast-iron Z-axis maintains micrometer-level positioning stability regardless of workshop temperature variations. In practice, cutting precision for most materials is ±0.1–0.2 mm — sufficient for aerospace and automotive components.
300–400 MPa: Standard for most industrial applications — steel up to 80 mm, stone, composites, rubber.
400–500 MPa: For harder or thicker materials, or when faster cutting speed is needed.
500–600 MPa: For maximum cutting speed on thick metals, or specialist applications requiring the highest pressure.

Only a pre-mixed explosion-proof waterjet can do this safely. Conventional cutting tools — angle grinders, plasma, even post-mix waterjet — all produce sparks or static electricity, creating ignition risk.

In post-mix (conventional) waterjet, abrasive is injected at the cutting nozzle using a venturi effect. The abrasive particles travel at high velocity through the nozzle, generating friction and micro-sparks at the cutting point.
